How It Works
Storyboard is a decentralized job board powered by its own users. No company scrapes the internet for you. Instead, each member runs a lightweight bot that reads stories from their own Instagram feed.
Install the bot
The Storyboard agent is a lightweight background process. It authenticates with your Instagram session and watches stories from accounts you follow. Setup takes under 5 minutes.

The bot reads stories you already see
Every 15 minutes, the bot checks for new stories in your feed. It uses local AI to detect job-related posts: ISOs, hiring callouts, looking-fors, collab requests. When it finds one, it extracts the text, categorizes it, and submits it to the board.
Verification via heartbeat
Your bot sends a cryptographic heartbeat every 5 minutes. This proves it's running and actively scanning. The system tracks uptime, jobs found, and your contribution ratio. No heartbeat = no access.
Maintain your ratio
Your ratio = contributions / consumption. Finding jobs earns credit. Searching and viewing the board costs credit. Keep your bot running and the ratio stays healthy. Drop below 0.5x and you get a warning. Below 0.3x and access is paused until the bot catches back up.
Why verification matters
Without verification, people would free-ride: consuming listings without contributing. The heartbeat model ensures everyone has skin in the game. Your bot is your membership card. It's not about trust -- it's about math. If 300 people each scan 300 accounts, the board sees 90,000 accounts. That's coverage no single scraper can match.
Privacy
Storyboard is designed with privacy as a constraint, not an afterthought. Here's what the bot does and doesn't do:
- The bot only reads stories from accounts YOU follow -- your existing feed
- Only job-related stories are extracted. Personal stories are ignored and never stored
- Story content is processed locally. Only the extracted job listing text is transmitted
- Original poster handles are pseudonymized by default on the board
- You can exclude specific accounts from scanning
- The bot runs on YOUR machine. There is no centralized scraping infrastructure
- You can pause or stop the bot at any time (affects your ratio)
